FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the advantages to a house cleaning service rather than a private housekeeper?

Locating, interviewing, hiring, training and unfortunately firing a housekeeper can be time-consuming and frustrating. Maid in North Carolina, Inc has been providing quality housekeeping services since 1989.  We perform thorough background checks, and only hire individuals that meet our stringent standards. And, because the maids we hire are employees, we pay their employee taxes, worker's compensation, bonding, and liability insurance. Additionally, your home will always be cleaned on your scheduled cleaning date. If your regular team leader is out for any reason, your secondary team leader and the team will arrive to clean your home on the scheduled date, unless you prefer to reschedule.

Why should a house cleaning service company be insured?

Did you know that not all house cleaning services are fully insured?   Most companies only have bonding coverage for their own equipment. What happens if  your house cleaning service company damages something in your home, or someone slips and falls?  With Maid in North Carolina House Cleaning Service you are totally protected - not only against breakage or damage to your valuables but also against liability in the unlikely event of injury or accident in your home.  Our coverage is third party bonding, liability, and workers compensation. Third-party coverage insures our customers.

Does Maid in North Carolina House Cleaning Service perform  background checks?
Every maid has passed our stringent background checks. If we would not give an applicant the key to our own home, we certainly won't give them yours!

Do your employees speak English?

You'll find it easy to communicate with our office staff and the maids we send to your home. Part of our stringent hiring process is to insure that our applicants are friendly, English speaking and committed to customer satisfaction.

Who pays employee taxes and insurance?
Maid in North Carolina, Inc is the employer of the maids we send to your home. As an employer, we pay all state and federal taxes for all of the maids we send to your home.  We also pay for bonding, liabililty and worker's compensation insurance.

What will Maid in North Carolina maids do in my home?
You set the priorities for the cleaning services you would like the team to provide in your home. We provide a free, personalized estimate that reflects your personal home cleaning needs, and our maids always try to accommodate your house cleaning requests.  All requests must be communicated to our office in advance of your cleaning service date so that the maids bring the proper equipment and supplies.

How do the maids know what needs to be done?
Every home owner's needs are different, and our team works from the house cleaning service list you provided to our office. It is best that you contact our office when you have specific needs, that way the teams will know in advance how to best service your home and bring the appropriate tools.

Do I need to spend half a day “cleaning up” before the cleaning team arrives?
Of course not!  If you let us know during the estimate we’ll be certain to schedule enough time for the team to declutter first, then clean.  Alternatively, you can save money by following these steps:

  1. Grab one empty laundry basket, one large garbage bag, a storage bin and a gallon size zip lock baggie for each room of your home.

  2. Start in the room furthest from the front door, place dirty clothes in laundry basket and clean clothes on the beds. Put the laundry basket into the hall.

  3. Toss garbage, junk mail, and old magazines into the trash bag and place the bag into the hall.

  4. Place bills or important papers into a zip lock bag.  If the room houses a child or roommate leave the bag on their pillow.

  5. All excessive items on flat surfaces go into a storage bin. Place the filled bin into the closet and your child, roommate or you will go through it another day.

  6. Fold the clothes you had tossed onto the bed, and put them away. (You can pre-arrange for the cleaning team to fold the clothes if you want to spend money for that to be done.)

  7. Repeat in all rooms.

  8. Unload the dishwasher and place all dirty dishes inside.

  9. Now the team can spend less time in your home, and focus on actually cleaning.  (And you’ll be saving money!)

How often will you clean my home?
We offer one-time, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, or occasional call-in maid services. Just let us know what your needs are, we are happy to customize your house cleaning service schedule.

How many maids will you send to clean my home?
Our cleaning team consists of 2 people, not 4 as with many other services. We find that two people work more efficiently and coordinate their work more effectively.

Do I have to provide you with cleaning supplies?
Maid in North Carolina provides all supplies and equipment, unless you prefer the maids use your cleaning supplies. If you have special instructions, contact the office and we'll be certain that your Customer Form is updated accordingly. (For example: some of our customers prefer that the maids use vinegar and water to clean hardwood floors. Your Customer Form would specify this requirement, along with where to find the vinegar in your home.)

Can I trust the team you send to my home?
All of our employees, both office staff and maids, are required to pass a stringent background check prior to being hired by Maid in North Carolina, Inc. Our maids are trained by experienced Team leaders.  Every maid is fully covered under our worker’s compensation, bonding, and liability insurance. Only our team leaders carry your key, and the keys are stored in a doubly-locked box at our offices. For added security, your key is not marked with your name, we code each key individually and reference your Customer Form and our Key List.

Do I need to be home when the team arrives?
You can make a variety of different arrangements for your maids to enter your home if you will not be there. We recommend that you provide a key to be kept in our office once you have established regularly scheduled services. Only our team leaders carry your key, and the keys are stored in a doubly-locked box at our offices. For added security, keys are coded individually and cross-referenced separately.

Do you require cancellation notice?
Rescheduling or cancelling a service requires a minimum of 2 business days notice.  A cancellation fee may be accessed if you cancel or reschedule without giving us appropriate time to fill the day with jobs for our employees.

If we like a particular team can we request them again?
Of course! We will do everything possible to assign your preferred team to your account. We also like to have one other team leader familiar with your account.

What if I am not happy with the house cleaning team?
If for any reason you are not satisfied, call (336) 869-0078 immediately.  We will assign a team leader who better suits your needs. If you are not happy we want to know so we can make things right!  Our customers are the reason we exist, and we are proud of the fact that many have been with us for over a decade. We have a long tradition of providing exceptional home cleaning services at competitive rates. Everyone at Maid in North Carolina wants you to be delighted with the work we perform, and we welcome feedback and comments to help us increase your satisfaction. Please do not hesitate to call with your suggestions.

What form of payment do you accept?
We accept Discover, MasterCard and Visa debit or credit. Or, if you prefer you can pay our maids with cash at the time of your service. Regularly scheduled customers may pay by check.

Is tipping allowed?

Tips are graciously accepted, but not required. You may leave cash, or you may call the office to add a tip to your payment.  Rest assured that 100% will go directly to the team and they are notified that you gave a tip.

What if something is damaged when my home is cleaned?
We carry liability insurance. In the unlikely event that something should become damaged or broken while we are cleaning your home, we will make every effort to have the item repaired, or replaced if it cannot be repaired. Insurance claims will be filed when appropriate. We treat your home with considerable care to ensure that accidents do not occur.

Am I subject to employer responsibilities like worker's compensation, insurance or taxes?
Not if you hire Maid in North Carolina! We are the employer of all maids sent to your home. As the employer we are responsible for all employment taxes and worker's compensation under state and federal law.
